First Steps

Choose safe channels, roles and recovery habits for your server.

Prepare channels with a purpose

Create or select a log channel your moderation team can read. Give SHADO5 permission to view it, send messages and embed links. Use an ordinary server text channel for verification and welcome messages; a forum or thread is not a substitute for those selectors.

For verification, make the verification channel visible to unverified members and configure the rest of your server around the role members receive after verification.

Keep role assignment separate from staff access

Use an ordinary member role for verification or auto-role assignment. Keep the SHADO5 role above it. Avoid using the same role for automatic onboarding and privileged dashboard access. Welcome auto-role selection excludes the active verified role, managed roles and roles with powerful management permissions.

Start with a deliberate moderation policy

Choose the minimum account age and word list that match your community, rather than treating defaults as a complete policy. Excluded roles bypass a specific filter; assign them sparingly. Explain verification and moderation rules to your members before enabling enforcement.

Create a recovery point

Once roles, channels and permissions look right, create a manual Server Backup. It saves supported structure, not message history. Keep sharing disabled unless you intentionally want another server owner to use the backup.
