Honeypot

Create a clearly marked trap channel that deletes messages and kicks or bans members who post there.

A dedicated monitored channel

Honeypot creates its own text channel and a prominent warning not to post. Ordinary members can see and write in it. Posted messages are automatically deleted, and eligible human members are kicked or banned according to Detection Action.

The server owner and Discord administrators are exempt from punishment, although their messages can still be deleted. Bot and webhook messages are not punished. Honeypot is not vote-required.

Enable Honeypot

  1. Open Dashboard, select your server and choose Honeypot under Protection.
  2. Select Kick or Ban under Detection Action and optionally choose a separate Log Channel.
  3. Use Enable & Save for a disabled module, or save changes for an enabled module.
  4. Wait for confirmation and check the module status before testing.

Wait until the bot confirms setup has completed. Pending channel operations are not a confirmed enabled state. Only the server owner or a Discord administrator can configure Honeypot.

Required bot permissions: Manage Channels, Manage Messages, View Channel, Send Messages, Embed Links, Read Message History, and Kick Members or Ban Members for the selected action. Its highest role must be above targets it needs to moderate.

Available settings

SettingBehavior
Detection ActionKick removes a member but allows a later rejoin. Ban prevents rejoining until a moderator unbans the account. First-time enabling needs an explicit choice.
Log Channel (optional)Detection and outcome reports go to a different text channel on this server. SHADO5 needs View Channel, Send Messages and Embed Links there.

Keep the warning and identifying channel topic intact. If SHADO5 cannot safely recognize its channel or message, it may stop the operation and request review rather than modify unrelated content.

Disable and remove the channel

Turn Honeypot off and confirm the disable dialog. The bot removes its managed channel. Wait for the confirmed disabled state before starting another operation. If cleanup fails, restore Manage Channels and follow the displayed error before retrying.

Discord command

/honeypot status:on detection_action:kick log_channel:#security-logs
/honeypot status:on detection_action:ban
/honeypot status:off

Requires Administrator. status is required (on/off). detection_action offers kick/ban: it is optional in the command picker, but first-time enabling needs a choice. A saved choice can be reused. log_channel is optional.

Pending or failed actions

If setup stays pending, check the bot is online and can create/manage channels. Avoid repeated submissions. If messages disappear but an account remains, check whether it is exempt and whether the bot has the selected moderation permission and sufficient role hierarchy. Logs distinguish exempt accounts from failed actions.

If someone manually deletes the channel, review the current status and reconfigure through the dashboard. A manually created lookalike is not automatically monitored.
