Discord Permissions
Understand the difference between your access, bot permissions and role hierarchy.
Your dashboard access
Server owners and members with Discord Administrator permission can manage their server in the dashboard. They can also authorize ordinary server roles through Dashboard Access. A delegated role does not become a Discord administrator and does not gain every special-purpose action.
Only the server owner or a Discord administrator can manage which roles receive dashboard access. Server Backup applies its own stricter rules; full restoration and importing a backup require the target server owner.
SHADO5’s permissions
Your own ability to change settings does not grant the bot permission to carry them out. SHADO5 needs access to the selected channels and permission to perform the requested moderation or role action. The current public invite requests Administrator; several slash-command setup flows also require the bot to have it.
If you adjust the bot’s permissions manually, consult the Permissions Reference. Channel overwrites can affect a non-administrator bot even when a server-wide permission is enabled.
Role hierarchy still applies
Place SHADO5’s highest role above the roles it assigns and the members it moderates. Discord protects owners and prevents a bot from managing equal or higher roles. Managed roles created by integrations are not ordinary editable roles.
Do not solve a hierarchy error by giving every member Administrator. Correct the specific role order or selected role instead.
When access changes
If a role is removed or a channel becomes private, a previously valid configuration may stop working. Refresh the relevant configuration once, check your current Discord permissions and read the error. Do not repeatedly reload or retry while the dashboard reports a temporary limit.
