Troubleshooting
A practical checklist for setup, synchronization and temporary service problems.
Identify what is failing
Write down the server, feature, exact visible error and the action that triggered it. Separate a failed save from a saved configuration waiting for the bot. Check Status before repeatedly retrying a service-dependent action.
For a known message, start with Common Errors.
Check account, channel and role access
- Confirm the signed-in Discord account and the selected server.
- Check that SHADO5 remains connected to that server.
- Confirm your own configuration permissions.
- Check the selected channel and its overwrites.
- Check SHADO5’s role position relative to the target role or member.
The Permissions Reference maps these checks to individual features.
Retry without making the problem worse
Wait for displayed cooldowns and pending operations. Refresh once after changing a permission or recovering your session, rather than continuously reloading. Do not submit duplicate giveaway or backup jobs.
If another moderator changed settings, load the current configuration before saving. For Verify and Honeypot, inspect the Discord message or channel and let synchronization finish.
Use the feature-specific checklist
- Verification: role assignment, channel access and CAPTCHA sessions.
- Honeypot: detection channel and selected kick/ban capability.
- Welcome & Goodbye: saved toggles, closed DMs and safe auto roles.
- Giveaways: active messages and pending actions.
- Server Backup: progress, permissions and uncertain outcomes.
Get help with enough context
Contact the SHADO5 support server with a short reproduction sequence, the visible error, approximate time and what you already checked. Redact private channel information and member details from screenshots. Never share passwords, access tokens or private backup IDs in public channels.
